This chat group is focused on Rural Enterprise Development and brings together knowledge on the type of interactions that can facilitate the delivery of programs and projects in this area. It is an online space to exchange information and network with those who are experts in Small and MicroEnterprise Development. The group will emphasize ways to learn about the small business environment as well as ways to overcome constraints for operations in rural areas. Some of the exciting topics we have lined up for discussion include: Legal Aspects, Finance and Management of SMEs. We will be going through these themes over the next three weeks and prioritizing which of these areas are most of interest to you as a member of this group! If you have another recommended topic related to Food Security, please send it to the same address KariaFacilitator@gmail.com and we do our best to include it.

We are now beginning our discussion of the first topic which is Legal aspects and the Startup Phase of SME development with three very general questions:

1. What type of small and micro-enterprises have you seen that worked well?
2. Why do you think they worked well?
3. What do you think are the biggest attraction points that get people excited about working with a small organization?

There is no single right answer and so please remember that we are creating a safe space and you will not be judged on anything. Because this is a public group, all ideas are valid and so we respect the ideas of every individual, no matter what their background. This is part of the ground rules for the group to ensure that it remains an inclusive space.
