Audience: Decision-makers and technical ITs from different agricultural institutions, ministries’ related departments, IFAD-funded projects, research centers, NGOs and private sector from Sudan. In addition, two key players from each of the 9 other countries participating in kariaNet will be invited in preparation for further replication in other countries.
KariaNet in partnership with Egypt ICT Trust Fund (UNDP) announce their workshop on “Building online Knowledge Management communities”. The 4 days workshop will be held in Khartoum, Sudan December 12-15, 2011. The workshop will provide a set of modules that will enable participants to create, sustain and monitor and evaluate knowledge-based online communities. It will focus on supporting the integration of knowledge in agriculture for rural development and empower its management through the provision of easy access to information that concerned stakeholders are looking for. The workshop will be organized in four comprehensive modules with hands-on practical exercises on (i) institutional networking; (ii) digital knowledge management; (iii) networks’ activation; and (iv) monitoring and evaluation.
This national online knowledge management community is KariaNet’s interface in Sudan and will be a pilot project whereby any interested country participating in KariaNet can be served similarly.
The Objectives:
To enhance the technical capacities of kariaNet members in Sudan and in the region to create and sustain an online knowledge management community.
Specific objectives:
1- To create a networking platform for KM-KS practitioners.
2- To provide a comprehensive training in creating and sustaining knowledge management online community.
3- To provide the necessary skills and tools to trace and harvest knowledge products and make them available online.
4- To introduce the techniques of monitoring and evaluation in networking and KM-KS.
The Agenda:
The four-day workshop will build the capacities of participants in the following fields of knowledge management and networking:
Day #1: Institutional Networking
· Preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
· Measures to activate the MoU
· Partners and members selection
· Development of the action plan and the M&E plan
· Content mapping;
Day #2: Digital Knowledge Management
· Online knowledge management (knowledge and technical standards for content)
· Cognitive creation of the website “include content map”
· technical design of the website
· Start publishing content;
Day #3: Networks activation
· Content management of the major networks
· Development of the content plan
· Prepare networking plan with regulating rules on other social networking portals
· management service and allowances policies and regulations
Day #4: Monitoring and Evaluation
· Prepare a networks’ follow-up report
· Editorial and Publishing Policies
· Follow-up emails
· Motivation mechanisms
